Will update SME data source soon: Industries Minister

The SME database will be updated in the near future to ensure the benefits associated with the incentive package, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said Tuesday.
He said this even though addressing as a good guest speaker at a virtual dialogue titled "Covid-19 Economic Crisis and SME Industry of Bangladesh”, said a good press release.
‘Resurgent Bangladesh’ policy development system, a joint venture of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Market (MCCI), Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Chittagong STOCK MARKET (CSE), BUIL and Policy Exchange, arranged the dialogue.
He said the SME Base and the Bangladesh Bureau of Figures would update the database by making use of the industries ministry.
The minister hoped that this move can help provide incentives to the real afflicted cottage, small and channel enterprises at the grassroots level.
He said that monitoring activities have been launched at the district level to guarantee the benefits associated with the incentives announced by the Primary Minister for the real affected SME business owners at the grassroots level.
A scrutinising committee offers been formed, led by the deputy commissioner, to recognize the real victims and this committee offers started its function, said Nurul Majid.
The largest challenge in this situation is to retain existing employment together with create new employment. The SME sector can take up an important purpose as the lifeblood of the market in getting together with this challenge.
Humayun added that the federal government has taken practical techniques to keep economical activities and industrialisation performing even amid the coronavirus condition.
Aside from this, efforts are being designed to involve the returnee migrants found in the productive SME sector, said the minister.
“Coronavirus has created an possibility to relocate foreign making industries to Bangladesh beneath the changed circumstances. This has brought new possibilities for the country’s SME sector,” he said.
He sought the help of all concerned, including SME industrialists, to employ this possibility.
Besides, the minister assured the dialogue organisers that the government would have immediate steps to put into action the logical tips of the dialogue.
