BICM-DSE to organize Inter University Capital Market Case Competition

Eight top teams will be selected from the second round for the final round and they will present their cases before the panel of judges
 
Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM) and Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) will jointly organize an inter-university capital market case competition, to grow student interest in capital markets as a career field.

The registration for the competition started September 20, and will continue till October 5, a BICM statement said on Tuesday.

Undergraduate and graduate students from different universities of the country are eligible to participate in the case competition.

“The prime focus of this programme is to ignite the latent talent of participants by engaging them in various challenging activities during the competition,’ said the statement.

“The competition will test their investment knowledge and ability to work as a team under pressure, thereby honing their presentation skills and analytical ability.”

Students can check the website (www.investmaestros.com) to learn about competition details . They have to register online to participate in the online, or first round of the competition. The result of the online round will be announced on October 7, 2018.

Qualified teams will be invited to join a day-long workshop at BICM before appearing in the semi-final, or second round, on October 15, 2018. In the workshop, academics and experts will discuss capital market related issues with competitors to give them a better understanding of the market.

Later, eight top teams will be selected from the second round for the final round and they will present their cases before the panel of judges.

BICM executive president Mohammad Abdul Hannan Zoarder told the Dhaka Tribune, “We are going to organize the program to raise interest in capital markets among university students.

Competition:

Round 1: In round one, the online round, teams have to prove their subject knowledge by means of a timed online exam. The top 30 teams will qualify for the semi-final round.

Workshops: Two workshops will be held prior to the semi-final and final rounds respectively.

Semi-final: Semi-finalist teams will come to Dhaka for an on-campus short case competition, based on which the top 8 teams will be selected for the final round.

Final round: In this round, a long case will be provided to the finalists which they will present before the panel of judges who will determine the Champion, 1stRunner up, and 2ndRunner up of the competition.

Prize giving and closing ceremony:  

On the day following the final round, a prize giving and closing ceremony will be held, followed by a gala dinner where the participants, guests from the organizing team, the panel of judges, and government, market, and academia dignitaries will be present. The Champion,1st Runner up, and 2nd Runner up will get BDT100,000, BDT50,000 and BDT30,000 respectively. 

The Champion team will get an internship opportunity at BICM and all the semi-finalists will get a free certificate course from BICM.
