BlizzCon 2018 Opening Ceremonies - With Live Updates

BlizzCon, the Blizzard Entertainment fan conference that drew more than 35,000 people in person and millions on the pay per view stream last year, begins officially this morning with the opening ceremonies. This story will be updated as the news happens in that opening session.

12:43 pm: That's it for the opening ceremonies and these updates.

12:40 pm: It will offer party multiplayer for mobile. There is a playable demo on the show floor.

12:36 pm: The title is Diablo Immortal. It's set between Diablo 2 and 3. It's in partnership with Netease. That's not a bad call, given Blizzard's inexperience with action games on mobile.

12:35 pm: New Diablo action RPG for mobile and other platforms.


12:32 pm: It launches 12/4 and is available for pre-sale now.

12:31 pm: Rare Spirit cards will have 0 attach, cost three mana, and provide hefty benefits. New Loa legendary cards will be available for each hero class.

12:30 pm: New mechanic is Overkill, where if you do more damage than you need to kill a minion, you get a bonus.

12:25 pm: Ben Thompson from Hearthstone introduces the new expansion - Rastakhan's Rumble, set in the Gurubashi Arena in World of Warcraft's Stranglethorn Vale.
