CAAB decides to permit more flights to Saudi Arabia after personnel protest

CAAB chief says personnel with Iqama should be able to go without go to visas and Umrah visas
After migrant personnel protested over a shortage of tickets to Saudi Arabia, the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has decided to permit Saudia to use more flights to get back Bangladeshi expatriates with their workplaces in the Gulf country.

Speaking at a meeting at Hazrat Shahjalal AIRPORT TERMINAL in Dhaka upon Tuesday, CAAB Chairman Weather Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman explained: "We might permit them [Saudia] to use as many flights as they want.”

He said that Saudia, the Saudi Arabian Airlines, had put on CAAB fourteen days ago on resuming airline flight businesses from Dhaka. Bangladesh’s civil aviation authorities acquired granted  permission on state that the Saudi authorities would give authorization to Biman Bangladesh Airlines to use standard flights on the Dhaka-Riyadh route.

He as well said that it turned out learned that those with Iqama, a good legal permit to live and do the job, could head to Saudi Arabia with out a go to visa and Umrah visa.

The CAAB chief’s reassurances came time after several hundred migrant staff demonstrated before the Saudi Arabian Airlines office in the city's Karwan Bazar area following a reported shortage of tickets.

Lots of the migrant workers said they had a need to return to their workplaces in the centre Eastern region immediately as their visas or do the job permits would expire found in September and then month.

According to media studies, some 30,000 Bangladeshi expatriate workers, most of whom came house amid the Covid-19 pandemic, are actually trying to return to their workplaces in Saudi Arabia. CAAB just lately permitted Saudia to use only two flights.

Mafidur on Tuesday stated that the Saudi authorities had granted Biman permission to use chartered flights only rather than commercial ones.

He said CAAB was trying to have Biman operate business flights on the path. “We talked to the Bangladesh ambassador to Saudi Arabia today relating to this. The issue will be solved quickly.”

Regarding the air travel hike, he said: “Saudi Arabian Airlines offers said that it hadn't blocked travel agencies. Travelling agencies are also selling tickets. But some local agencies happen to be blocking tickets and raising fares. We are looking for them with help from regulations enforcement agencies.”

Biman wouldn't normally sell new tickets but would carry travellers who had go back tickets, he said, adding that passengers would benefit if Biman could operate professional flights.

On Monday, Biman said that Saudi Arabia finally had trained with the green light to use flights to and from the country from October 1.

In March, the kingdom had suspended foreign flights to prevent the distributed of the novel coronavirus.

On September 15, Saudi Arabia announced that it could partially lift its suspension on overseas flights to allow "exceptional categories" of citizens and residents to visit.
