Clarks Inn Group keen to help develop hospitality industry

Officials of the group announced their entry into the Bangladesh market at a press conference held in the Westin Dhaka

Indian hotel chain Clarks Inn Group of Hotels has expressed its interest in contributing to the development of Bangladesh’s hospitality and tourism industry.

Officials of the group announced their entry into the Bangladesh market at a press conference held in the Westin Dhaka on Wednesday.

SN Srivastava, president and co-founder of Clarks Inn Group of Hotels, said, “We are most excited to introduce our portfolio of brands in Bangladesh. We are in an advanced stage of discussion with a few owners and developers to manage their property in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country.”

He also added that his company has also been in touch with some prospective hotel owners and developers in Dhaka, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Sundarbans.

The reason for investing in Bangladesh was because the country shares similarities with India, in terms of economic opportunities. “Our portfolio of properties encompasses three to five star deluxe hotels spread across 20 states in India, Nepal and soon in Bangladesh as well,” Srivastava remarked.

Citing the achievements of Clark’s Inn Group of Hotels, he added the signing of their 100th property in just over 12 years, a feat unmatched by other hospitality organizations in the South Asian region.

Akhtaruzzaman Khan Kabir, Chairman, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, was  present as chief guest.

He said Bangladesh currently contains a flexible platform to set up hospitality businesses, as eight other international hotel chains have also expressed their interest to invest here.

“We need to train manpower for developing the hospitality sector,” Akhtaruzzaman added, “The government has begun doing so on a limited scale, the private sector must contribute as well.”

Clarks Inn Group of Hotels, established as a hotel management company in 2006, has emerged as one of the fastest growing hotel companies in a span of just over 12 years of operating in South Asia.
