DSE daily turnover hits two-month high

The prime bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), gained on Wednesday with the turnover hitting a two-month high as the investors were active on both sides of the trading fence throughout the day.
On Wednesday, the daily turnover rose to Tk564 crore, which was 0.71% higher than the previous day’s (Tuesday) turnover of Tk560 crore. It was also the highest single-day turnover in two months since September 30, when turnover Tk595 crore.

Taking to Dhaka Tribune, market insiders said that the share prices of most of the companies came down to the bottom level after relentless fall in the share prices that attracted a section of investors to the scrips.
They also said the market started rising from the very beginning on Wednesday and maintained the momentum till the end of the session as investors went for buying shares of textile companies, banks and NBFIs.
EBL Securities in its daily market commentary said that the investors’ participation was agile on Wednesday and market turnover rose to Tk564 crore. LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Limited, one of the large-cap scrips by capital attracted investors attention and dominated the scrip-wise turnover board on Thursday based on the clearance news on their merger from the High Court.
Meanwhile, at the end of the session, DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, went up by 8.04 points or 0.17% to settle at 4,730.
Other two indices also ended higher. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 11.53 points to finish at 1,646 and the DSE Shariah Index rose 6.73 points to close at 1,081.
The pharmaceuticals sector contributed 14.3% of the total turnover while textile, insurance and banking sectors contributed 12.8%, 11.1% and 10.8% respectively, showed the daily market analysis of UCB Capital Management Limited.
A total of 20 transactions on 11 stocks worth Tk13 crore were executed in the block market of Dhaka Stock Exchange, showed Detailed DSE Market Statistics.
LafargeHolcim Bangladesh secured the leadership position on the top turnover chart with a turnover of Tk44.8 crore with its share price closing at Tk35 per share.
The stock was followed by Square Pharmaceuticals with Tk19.2 crore, Sonar Bangla Insurance with Tk15.8 crore, Fortune Shoes with Tk13.8 crore and Beximco Pharmaceuticals with Tk11.2 crore.
LafargeHolcim secured the highest gain of 9.7% during the session. The stock was followed by Zaheen Spinning with 9%, Doreen Power Generations and Systems with 8.4%, Tosrifa Industries with 7.9% and EXIM Bank 1st Mutual Fund with 6.8%.
Nahee Aluminum Composite turned out the worst loser with its price declining by -11.9%. The stock was followed by Sonar Bangla Insurance with -9.7%, Legacy Footwear with -9.5%, Al-Haj Textile Mills with -9.5% and Dulamia Cotton Spinning Mills with -8.2%.
The port city bourse, CSE increased by 65.8 points in its broad based index-CASPI. Traded shares and mutual fund units worth nearly Tk 26 crore in turnover.
