Stocks close week up with higher transactions
Stocks closed the week yesterday with rising trend of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges on higher transactions, reports BSS.
The daily average trade value at the DSE was 1.03 percent up at Tk 575.81 crore and the trade volume was 0.78 per cent up at 12.89 crore shares.
The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the week with 75.39 points up at 5,418.28. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also closed the week with 13.53 points up at 1,898.36 and with 20.70 points up at 1,250.72 respectively.
Out of the 346 traded securities, 219 closed higher against 93 losing issues when 31 remained unchanged.
During the week, the top five gainers were Asia Pacific General Insurance, Bangladesh Finance and Investment, VFS Thread Dyeing, Rahim Textile
Mills and Sonali Aansh Industries.
The five major losing companies were National Life Insurance, Western Marine Company, Pioneer Insurance, Bangladesh Submarine Cables Company and Nitol Insurance.
The top five turnover leaders were Khulna Power Company, United Power Generation and Distribution Company, IFAD Autos, Active Fine Chemicals and BBS Cables.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week up, with its major CASPI index ending 219.28 points higher at 16,660.36.
Like the DSE, most of the issues traded at the CSE closed higher when both the trade value and volume of shares increased.
