Nashville-established Silicon Ranch Corp. is continue this week on its strategies to a create a second solar farm in rural Washington County.
Company officials are slated to meet up tonight to revise neighbors on a good proposed solar power producing site to be located in western Washington County. That hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of BrightRidge’s headquarters at 2600 Boones Creek Highway.
Silicon Valley officials will also appear before the Washington County Arranging Commission at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to request a tract at 158 Martin Highway end up being rezoned from A-1 (basic agriculture district) to A-3 (agriculture organization district) to facilitate the solar job.
Power From The Sun
The business announced plans in September to develop a 9-megawatt solar energy producing facility on some of 104 acres of farmland placed off Martin Road. Structure of the brand new facility is likely to begin in late springtime, and will be accomplished by the end of this year.
The project is likely to generate nearly twice the electricity of an identical Silicon Ranch procedure in Telford, which became the first solar farm in Washington County. It was also the first of its type in the Northeast Tennessee region when it started to be operational in early on 2019.
Silicon Ranch is once more partnering with BrightRidge on the solar project. Company officials say the multi-million dollar job will be referred to as the Martin Solar Farm.
It’s named for the later Ralph Martin, who was simply who owns the farm real estate and a ex - director of the Johnson City Power Board, which became BrightRidge found in 2017.
OBTAINING THE Word Out
BrightRidge CEO Jeff Dykes told people of the electric utility’s board of directors last week that Silicon Ranch is doing “its due diligence” to meet up with people who live near to the proposed solar farm.
“They (Silicon Ranch officials) still intend to break ground on this job in the springtime,” Dykes said. “They have kept the process rolling along.”
The project calls for Silicon Ranch to possess and operate the facility. Which includes the get of the Ralph Martin farm, where 75 acres will be be used for 25,000 modules for solar powered energy production.
BrightRidge officials said under the terms of its 20-12 months deal with the Tennessee Valley Authority, the utility is permitted to buy 100% of the strength from the solar farm and sell off it to its customers during the next 30 years.
Silicon Ranch is among the largest independent solar powered energy producers in the usa, operating 135 facilities found in 14 states from New York to California.
It currently operates a good 40-acre solar farm, located off Miller Highway around Jonesborough and Telford, which includes 41,760 solar power panels that manufacture 5 megawatts of power.
