Top ecommerce companies, startups step up campus hiring at B-schools

Top ecommerce players and startups, including Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, upGrad, Rupeek and CredAvenue, showed an all-time high appetite for talent from business school campuses this year, hiring in multiples of last year's numbers, company officials told ET.
Placement cells at management schools, including the Indian Institutes of Management at Kozhikode and Indore, Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune, also confirmed the sharp jump in hiring by such companies this year.
"For 2022, we are hiring thousands of students, more than we have in the past years, across tech and non-tech profiles," said an Amazon spokesperson in an emailed response. Amazon is hiring students from IIMs, ISB, IITs, NITs and other leading engineering colleges and B-schools.
Its rival Flipkart is hiring for roles like supply-chain operations & design, business analysts, product managers, planning, business finance, and management trainees, its chief people officer, Krishna Raghavan, told ET. "This year, we have also expanded our reach pan India to all business school students through our Case Study Competition 'Flipkart WiRED'," said Raghavan.
Another ecommerce firm, Meesho, is hiring from all tier-1 business schools, including IIMs and ISB. Meesho has been offered the first day hiring slots in all B-schools, especially ISB.
In 2021, edtech unicorn upGrad hired from 80-90 colleges, including B-schools and engineering colleges. This year, upGrad is visiting 250 colleges with a combination of 60% B-schools and 40% graduates & engineers, its cofounder, Mayank Kumar told ET.
Fintech startup Rupeek is hiring for multiple roles, including management trainee, product managers/ senior manager for functions like category, product, growth, finance, operations and marketing.
