Study: Contribution of SMEs to industrial employment has ended 80%

Among the SME enterprises, over 84% SMEs are found in villages while a lot more than 80% are cottage industries
A lot more than 98% of the total business enterprises found in Bangladesh are SMEs and their contribution is 80 to 85% in the country’s industrial job, according to a research.
According to the analysis, among the SME enterprises, over 84% SMEs happen to be located in villages while a lot more than 80% will be cottage industries.
SME Base conducted the research, titled ‘Creation of SMEs in Bangladesh: Lessons from German Activities’.
The analysis was supported by the German organization Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Bangladesh.
Prime Minister’s Adviser on International Affairs Dr Gowher Rizvi was the principle guest at the study publishing function even while SME Basis Chairperson Dr Md Masudur Rahman presided more than the virtual event.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Germany Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan and German Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Fahrenholtz were specialized guests.
Taking care of Director of the SME Basis Md Shafiqul Islam and Resident Representative of FES Tina Bloom, among others, spoke upon the occasion.
According to the research, obstacles to the production of SME sector in Bangladesh happen to be, including insufficient financing, high interest about loans, shortage of skilled and unskilled workers, insufficient connectivity with complex education institutes, insufficient effective business network, insufficient information hampering production and marketing.
In his speech, Gowher Rizvi stated Germany’s advancement on the SME sector is undoubtedly encouraging.
The contribution of SME enterprises is merely 40% to the country’s economy, so that it is important to focus on skill expansion in this sector, this individual added.
